Igualmente to that! Great that 'As the Walrus said"The Time has come (again) to talk of many things!" And there certainly should be plenty to talk about in what almost seems like an unpredictable new era. Buen suerte to us all indeed!

David Eldon

Roberto, la confusion es la nueva normalidad. Non-Spanish speakers will work out that says "Confusion is the new normal". As it is likely to be. Thanks for the comment; yes, lots to talk about.

Happy New Year to you David, and to your many readers, and great to see you blogging again!

Your New Year post got me thinking and a couple of quotes from Joseph-Marie, comte de Maistre, seem apposite:

"False opinions are like false money, struck first of all by guilty men and thereafter circulated by honest people who perpetuate the crime without knowing what they are doing."

"Every nation gets the government it deserves."

David Eldon

Indeed wise words Geoff ... and one is struck by the final comment - "every nation gets the government it deserves". You cannot help but think that that there are in fact some out there who have governments they don't actually deserve - but then they didn't have much of a chance to vote for it! Have a good year.

James

Great to have you back Mr Eldon.

Indeed, a great first post!

And a Happy New Year to you.

Julian

Happy New Year David

As Winston Churchill once said, 'democracy is the worst form of government, but better than all the rest'.

A pragmatic approach to solutions for all.

Good to see u blogging again!

Age tends to make us all more honest with the perspective of time and relative impending mortality.

Lets all welcome the year of the dog.

David Eldon

Thank you Julian ... although not sure which"dog" you are referring to because if it is the Chinese Year, then that dog's in his kennel for another 12 months (it's the Year of the Rooster next!) BUT Donald Trump is, in Chinese Zodiac terms, indeed a dog hmm!)- and a "fire dog" at that!! As is Bill Clinton - and as you have mentioned him already was Winston Churchill, but he was a wooden dog!
Happy New Year.
